Lord Ganesha, a revered Hindu deity, is complete resource of knowledge, wisdom and removal of obstacles. Lord Ganesha has different names, which is perceived differently by different people. Some names are- “Balaganapati” that means beloved child, “Chaturbhuj” that means the four- armed lord, “Ekdanta” or one who has a single tusk, “Gajakarna” that is one who has ears like an elephant and “Gajanan” that is one who has an elephant face. Children call him “My friend” and adults call him “Bappa” or “My Father”. In all these wonderful facts about Lord Ganpati, we couldn’t forget about his excellent communication skills for several symbolic and mythological reasons.
Here in this post, I am going to talk about 5 important communication skills of Lord Ganesha that we must learn and inspire others to follow the same.
- Understanding skills– Lord Ganesha is the Lord of wisdom, knowledge and intellect. His large head symbolizes knowledge and his thinking ability to remove obstacles of his devotees. It is because of his great understanding skills that he is able to know the problem of his devotee and remove it with his impactful power and wisdom. We could learn from Sri Ganesha, and acquire an excellent communication skills by learning, acquiring knowledge and gaining wisdom.
- Modulation of Language– Lord Ganesha is believed to be an eloquent speaker who could communicate persuasively and effectively. Lord Ganesha is associated with handling the tedious task of writing great epic “Mahabharata” as orally revealed by Maharishi Ved Vyas. It is his discerning abilities that he has written the vast literature by understanding it completely and authoritatively.
- Listening skills– Ganesha is often depicted with large ears, symbolizing his attentiveness and the ability to listen keenly. Effective communication involves active listening and lord Ganesha highlights well this aspects of communication. Listening skills also depicts good listening where Lord Ganesha is known to righfully listen to his parents (God Shiva & Goddess Parvati) and obey them with great love and respect.
- Universal appeal – Lord Ganesha has an universal appeal and a great power of communication. This is the sufficient reason to claim that he has the wider reach that transcended linguistic and cultural appeal. He is very popular God because of his simplicity and non-discrimination nature. He shows concerns for everyone who shares their suffering to Lord and seek relief from the same.
- Problem solving and conflict resolution– the role of Lord Ganesha as the remover of obstacles suggests his ability to mediate and resolve conflicts through effective communication. He is known to be a very quick problem solver where he relief his devotees from sufferings and show them the path of wisdom and rightfulness.
