Most people says that if you change your perception and the way you look at world, everything changes. But nobody tells us how we should change our perception?
Maurice Merleau Ponty, a French Philosopher, Phenomenologist, and believer in Gestalt Psychology has said about how we could change our perception. For understanding this, we should first understand the objects towards which our perception is based.
Maurice Ponty has said that whatever objects is around us, invites us towards it. For example, if I have a coffee mug at front, I feel like I should drink coffee. Similarly, if there is sofa in front of me, I would feel like sitting for once. Similarly, on the basis of objects around us, our perception is based.
Our perception is also based on our ability and capability to interact with an object. For example, if there is any chess board in front of me then I would play or have an interest in chess board. Otherwise, I won’t pay attention towards chess boards.
Our perception is also based on our intention. For example, If I love mountain and I am going to hill station for attending an event then it is possible that my attention would be lesser at mountains and more at event.
Our perception and action is also based on emotions. Suppose you don’t like a rat and suddenly rat jumps in your way, then for sure you will avoid the way.
Basically our perception is based on our capabilities, our needs, intentions, the interactions with objects and more. So our perception is mostly affected by our surroundings.
Similarly, if we want to bring change around then we could bring it through our perceptions. For example, if I don’t like interior of my house, I could design and change. Similarly, if you want to create a better experiences in your life then start changing your perception and slowly bring changes to your surroundings too.
